Christmas Oratorio
Taking place over two evenings this performance is a rare opportunity to experience the entire Christmas Oratorio as a seasonal treat.
The six cantatas that make up the Christmas Oratorio, were originally composed to be performed in Leipzig’s two main churches – St Thomas and St Nicholas – over six feast days during the Christmas period. Follow the links below for more information about individual performances. The cycle takes us from the light of Christmas Day in Part 1 to the joyful arrival of the Magi in the finale, featuring some of Bach’s most optimistic and gorgeous music along the way.
Suzuki and the OAE are joined by a cast of soloists featuring some of the most dynamic rising stars of the UK’s historical performance scene.
"The opportunity to share this timeless masterpiece with audiences across Europe fills me with immense joy and anticipation. Together, we embark on a musical journey that celebrates the spirit of the festive season, and can't wait to share this profound experience with all of you."
Part 1 – 6 are performed on Saturday 2 December with Parts 4 – 6 performed on Sunday 3 December. You can experience the complete Christmas Oratorio by booking for both concerts, but we also believe that either can be enjoyed as a standalone event.
Get 15% off your tickets when you book for both Christmas Oratorio concerts and the Easter Oratorio (27 March) with Club OAE Artist Collection Pass.
