Adrian Bending Principal Timpani

As well as being our Principal Timpani, Adrian appears regularly with many of London’s symphonic, chamber and period-instrument orchestras.

In 2018, Nicola Benedetti wrote a new cadenza for Beethoven’s Violin Concerto for violin and timpani. We performed a series of concerts with Nicola, and Adrian played played the cadenza with her.

Adrian can be heard on many film soundtracks including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Richard III, Philadelphia, Enigma and Cliffhanger.

In 2016 Adrian published his teaching book Bending Bach’s Basslines and has composed and arranged material for the Associated Board’s new percussion syllabus.
